Pre-Paid Funeral Plans

“Our Family Taking Care Of Your Family”

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions you might want to ask, but please call us if there is anything else you would like to know about the plan.

Is there an age limit or health restrictions?

Anyone aged 18 or over can purchase a plan at any age and in any state of health, but please see the note on instalments below.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, you can pay for your funeral plan over 1 to 5 years. There is an additional cost for paying by instalments over 2, 3, 4, or 5 years. This additional cost is held in the plan and used for your funeral. Additional Instalment Payment Terms and Conditions apply – please ask for details.

If you die before completing all of the instalments, the money you have paid will be used as a contribution towards your funeral.

Can I buy a plan for someone else?

Yes, we find that many customers choose to do this.

What if funeral costs increase?

Funerals like anything else, are affected by inflation and the cost of a funeral may increase before you need one. However, once you have purchased a prepayment plan, as long as we carry out your funeral and your requirements don’t change, your funeral director’s costs listed in the plan paperwork will be covered. You can also make a contribution towards disbursements, which cannot be guaranteed.

This is one of the most important benefits and why it has become so popular with our clients in recent years.

Does the plan include Disbursements?

Each plan usually includes a contribution towards other expenses, such as crematorium or cemetery fees, doctor’s fees for a cremation certification and minister’s or church fees – these fees are known as ‘disbursements’. This is intended to cover most of the usual disbursements, but please note that they are outside of our control and cannot be guaranteed.  You can include a larger, or smaller, contribution towards disbursements if you wish – please ask if you need advice on this point.

What if I move home?

If you move, should be able to transfer your plan to a Funeral Director in that area. Funeral costs vary from one area to another and you will be advised of any difference in cost at that stage.

What if I die away from home?

We recommend that you take out travel insurance when you go on holiday, especially if you travel abroad, which usually covers bringing you back home if necessary. Alternatively, we can quote for the extra cost involved.

What if I change my mind later?

If you change your mind within 30 days of receiving your plan documents you can request a full refund with no questions asked. If you cancel your plan at a later date, you’ll receive a refund of the original amount paid, minus the management fee.

How do I know the money will be safe?

All payments are held securely in guaranteed whole of life assurance policies, arranged by our funeral plan provider, Ecclesiastical Planning Services. The life assurance companies used are authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and regulated by the PRA and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Funeral plans themselves are not regulated by the PRA or FCA, but Ecclesiastical Planning Services is registered with the Funeral Planning Authority.
